Antoine Flahaut is a medical doctor, former intern of the Paris hospitals, and doctor in biomathematics. Appointed Professor of Public Health in 2002, he founded the Rennes School of Public Health (EHESP), which he ran from 2007 to 2012. He is also co-director of Virchow-Villermé Centre for Public Health Paris-Berlin, co-Director of the European academic Alliance for global health, and President of the European accreditation Agency of public health training.

A specialist in the mathematical modeling of epidemics, Antoine Flahaut led the WHO Collaborating Centre for electronic disease surveillance, coordinated the research on chikungunya in the Indian Ocean (INSERM Prize 2006), and was curator of the scientific 'Epidemik exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry (Paris, Rio and Sao Paulo). In January 2014, he was appointed professor at the Faculty of Medicine, where he is called to develop and direct the overall health institute, for the benefit of a chair of the Louis-Jeantet Foundation for medicine.
